Traditional estate and financial planning strategies no longer apply to today’s “modern” families. This presentation will review how the definition of “family” has evolved over the decades and the planning strategies unique to blended families, same-sex married couples, and “I Do Not” couples.

Cynthia Hearing, JD, CLU, ChFC, CLTC, CAP is the Lead Senior Consultant in The Guardian Life Insurance Company’s Business Resource Center. In this capacity, Cynthia provides case consultation, case design support and technical support to Guardian’s Financial Representatives who work with closely-held business owners and high net worth individuals. Prior to joining Guardian, Cynthia was the Director of Financial Planning for a high-ranking agency of MassMutual Financial Group. She also served as a Wealth Management Consultant for Prudential Securities’ Private Client Group working with high net-worth individuals and owners of closely-held businesses. Prior to that, Cynthia served as Director of Financial Planning for an agency of New England Financial Group designing comprehensive financial plans for the firm’s clientele.
